Hi there,

There has not been much activity on here of late so I thought that I might post and spice things ip a bit. The other day I joined the Wine Selectors Club and I received my first case of wine. There seems to be a great variety of red wine in the case I got, and I look forward to drinking it. You can get wholly white cases or half and half, which is good for those that drink predominantly white or a bit of both or conversely all reds. I was wondering how many people on here actually belong to the Wine Selectors Club on this community.

For those that don't belong but would like to this is the main premiss of the club. The Wine Selectors Club has a panel that travels all around australia testing wine and then puts together a selection of the best reds and whites, they then ship you a case of your choice...either all red, all white or half n half. All the bottles retail at about $18 - $25 but they are sent to you at about $13 - $14 per bottle. Only the first shipment is compulsory. For those interested I would suggest that you look them up.

I am thinking that given the community that this is being posted to that some of you ould enjoy this an immense deal, that is if you are all not members already.

Merry Christmas....Peace out.

i myself am not a member yet!

let me know if the wine's up to scratch!

i myself am fairly fussy with my wine so i am not sure if it'd be the thing for me, but i'm sure others with more open minds would enjoy it immensely, it's a great idea!

Yeah usually so am I.

I have had the first bottle and it went down really well. It was a 2005 Shiraz. It was firm but fairly light bodied. While being quite young it did not taste as such and had some really great legs. It had a distinct berry flavour with a nice plum colour and fairly mild tannins. So from all accounts the wine is very up to scratch.

It is like being a kid at christmas when my first box arrived the other day. It is great. The box also comes with a subscription to Wine Selectors Magazine and comes with Tasting Notes on each of the wines that you receive which is a great indication. You can also get great discounts on wine at participating wineries around the country...an essential for an alcoholic like myself. I may only be new to it but I am definately happy with it. The twelve bottles should be able to keep me in a nice drunken stupour for at least Christmas, which is really the only way that I can cope with my family at Christmas.

Hmm sounds pretty sweet, although I have a fairly stocked cellar after my mixed dozen the other day... I do want to join something like this.

It is just silly buying "2005 wines you must drink" type books each year when you can belong to a community of some description.
